Everyone faces some type of obstacles in their life, but it is more about how we overcome those obstacles that say something about a person. In our life we are faced with an impossible climb that we must keep trying to climb. Trusting in God and letting him help me through the obstacles is what has helped me to keep going, but through those trials I do believe I have been shaped into a better person. I once heard that in life we climb the impossible climb. This refers to the documentary “Free Solo.” This documentary is about a man named Alex Honnald who was the first man to complete the free solo climb, which is rock climbing with no safety gear. I got up and to my safe place, after about ten minutes we were in the clear and I was sitting on my parent’s bed when she received a phone call. After she hung up she looked at me and said “She’s gone.” I knew what that meant and that my aunt, who treated me as her child, was gone. I had never felt pain and sadness like that before. I had never felt grief before and really did not know how to handle it and questioned why we had to feel those emotions. Fast forward to October 16, 2021 I was in Alabama playing softball and my mom was with me. We had just got done playing and were having a team meeting and when I turned around my mom was not there. She had walked to the restroom, but I saw her walking back and she was talking to my coach, but then she answered a phone call. I did not think anything of it until her hand went over her mouth. I walked up to her and she said, “We are going home.” I stood there in silence confused of why and wondering what happened. She looked at me and said, “Gran is gone.” Gran was my grandmother and she had just been killed in a car accident.
