Football is a harsh game and most players have short professions. Players who remain in school for a long time may relinquish a year or two of procuring potential in the NFL with a specific end goal to remain in school sufficiently long to gain a degree. There is no assurance that a player can enhance his draft status or, much more essentially, evade harm while playing more years of school ball.
