Greek Gods
According to the early Christian church fathers of the ancient Greeks believed that their gods were originally real people who their gods ancestors deified and to who they prescribed driven rites derived from Egyptians and Phoenicians whose gods were also once mortal men.

The Olympian gods or Olympians are younger gods who got the name from their mythical place, Mount Olympus. The younger gods gained rank as the rulers of the world after dethroning the elder gods, known as the Titians, in a ten year war called titanmachy. The Olympians as they called them were the main gods of Ancient Greece and were representing civilation of the world.

Every Olympian God and Goddess had different powers that controlled different things.

First generation Hera was the Olympian god of marriage and child birth. She was known as the Queen of the gods. She was the wife of Zeus. Hera symbol was an peacock. Her appearance was to be an beautiful women. Hera had two children with Zeus, Ares and Hephaestus.

Demeter was Olympian goddess of harvest and fertility of the earth. Demeter greatest gifts to mankind were wheat and corn and the knowledge of agricultural techniques. She was also known as the goddess of sacrificial flame and was honored with receiving first offering at every sacrifice in household. Hestia's Symbol or Attribute was the hearth and the tamed fire which burns there. Hestia was too nice, cool. That was her one weakness. Hestia had no children, which is strange from the modern perspective of a goddess of the hearth and home. But keeping the "home fires burning" was a full-time job in ancient times and letting the fire go out was considered an omen of disaster.
