Personal Statement – Chrystal Church – Health Information Management – Healthcare can

Strong desire to achieve, to succeed and to become well educated in my field of employment (my career), has led me to my next journey - My application to the Health Information Management program. Over the past 7 years I have been in a Leadership role that has sparked my curiosity and desire to learn more and broaden my knowledge of Health Care, in addition to furthering my career and take it to the next level of Leadership.
I am currently a Coordinator of Patient Registration and Information Desks at Hamilton Health Sciences, and have been in this leadership role for 1 year now. Previous to this, I started my career in the corporation as a registration clerk in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. After only a very finite amount of time- less then 6 months to be exact, I applied, interviewed and was the successful applicant of the Business Coordinator role (supervisor) with in the same department– an accomplishment noted by many peers and superiors. It was within this role that I had self discovery – this being the internal desire to learn and to be more then I am now, not just for my self but for others. If the courses offered the ability for me to learn and be a better person and provide me with education relevant to my area, I didn’t think twice.
