During the New Kingdom Egypt reached it highest peak of power, wealth and Military. This is why it became the New Kingdom. It pushed all their traditional borders. Meaning they reached new territories. Expanding their territory into new unknown lands. The New kingdom took place in the 1550 BC~ 1070 BC. During this time important events were going on.One of them was the first female phaoroh was being crowned pharaoh and Egypt was more powerful than ever. The first female pharaoh was hatshepsut. Thutmose II was her father She was born in 1508 BC. and died in 1458 BC. She was a ruler in the 18th dynasty. She was a very wise ruler. She became ruler at the age of twelve when her father died. She became pharaoh because of her wise decisions. Which later on made the new kingdom new. She helped form it Later on she married her half Brother, but hatshepsut was still the pharaoh. The construction took place in 1403 BC. It took 7 months to build, and 7 months to transport. In a total it took over a year to build and transport the obelisk. It’s Located in the Temple of Karnak, in upper Egypt. It was build out of Clay. Scientist believe that it was also built out of wood wedges, but the only way to find that out is to destroy it, but they can not destroy it. It is 97 feet high, and is 320 tons of solid Aswan granite. It was 6 feet wide. This obelisk was built in Honor of Hatshepsut. All obelisks are homage to the sun god. It had many hieroglyphics of Hatshepsut's life. All four sides were filled with obelisk. It told about how she ruled. She was a strict ruler, so the obelisk had some of her rules into the side.
