Back in the day of the Civil War was the toughest time for us black folk they had to endure so much change. During the middle of the 1800s, cotton became the world’s largest commodity. The cheapest and best cotton came from the southern United States.
Back in slavery it was a hard time, they were forced to work in hard labor they were whipped, beaten, sold, they were split up from their children, worst of all they were raped and if the white man or master impregnated the female slave they would neglect and disowned the child and would treat the baby horribly like it was a piece of trash.
