Susan B. Anthony was a Women’s rights activist. She was a suffragist, abolitionist, author and speaker who was the president of the National American Woman Suffrage Association, also known as NAWSA. The NAWSA was formed on February 18, 1890 by Anthony and her friend Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Together, they changed the world.

Susan Brownell Anthony was born on February 15, 1820 in Adams, Massachusetts. Her mother was Lucy Read and her father was Daniel Anthony. She was the second oldest of eight children, Daniel, Mary, Merritt, Hannah, and Guelma. Two of her siblings died at an early age. She was raised in a Quaker household and owned a cotton mill with her family. Susan died of old age on March 13, 1906 in Rochester, New York.
