The Mysterious Murderer of Jackson Mississippi
Introduction
The morning of November 30th, 2018, three students by the names of Erica Jones, Paul Soyer and Louis Davis were found dead in Jackson High’s school pool in Mississippi, murdered by a mysterious murderer. The three students attended Jackson High together, all in grade eleven at the time. It is confirmed that the killings took place the night before on November 29th 2018. All of the victims were beaten to death with a bowling ball and then brought over to the school where they were disposed of in the swimming pool. The social control theory suggests that people engage in criminal activity when their bond to society has weakened (Hirschi, 1969). Arthur never really had anyone that would guide him in the right direction and show him what was right and what was wrong. His father was abusive and an alcoholic, his mother wanted nothing to do with him and the only person who he enjoyed being around, Scott, he could no longer see. He also was not a very social child so he did not have friends that could help him through this tough situation. Therefore, he experienced a lack of social connections and social network that would normally prohibit criminal activity and thus increased the likelihood that he would participate in criminal activity (Hirschi, 1969). Furthermore, Arthur’s mentality has stayed the same ever since he was seven. When he reunited with his brother the first day of high school it help with his depression, however, Arthur still had a bad mentality and bad habits that even rubbed off on Scott such as staying out late and skipping class. Overall, the lack of Arthur’s social control caused him to have a bad mentality and commit criminal
