Have u ever wondered what it would be like if you tried to survive on a harsh journey without your family? This book is about the Novel A Long Walk To Water written by Linda Sue Park. This novel is about Salva,an 11 year old boy became a part of the second sudanese war in 1985. He had to survive and live on his own. Salva had to show collaboration, persistence, and responsibility in order to survive his difficult journey.
To begin with, a survival factor salva shows is collaboration. Salva shows this survival factor when he helps the refugee boys build canoes.Next, according to chapter 7 “slava staggered forward with yet another enormous load of reeds in his arms. Everyone was busy. Others, like Salva, gathered up the cut stalks and took them to the boatbuilders.”(43) This quote shows collaboration because building boats would take a lot of effort, materials and people/teamwork and that shows collaboration. This will affect Salvas identity because he will know that a lot more gets done with teamwork/collaboration vs. trying to do it on your own.
