What is a marching band? What do they do for a living? Marching Band is a dynamic and exciting musical ensemble that combines music, movement, and visual elements to create a captivating performance. In a marching band, musicians play instruments while marching in intricate formations on a field or parade route. This unique art form requires precision, teamwork, and dedication from all members. Marching bands have a color guard that is a combination of the use of flags, sabers, mock rif, and other equipment, as well as dance and other interpretive movements. The oldest American college marching band, The University Of Notre Dame Band, was founded in 1845.
