I have always wanted to work in the healthcare industry. At first, I wanted to be a RN nurse. I enrolled in College of Coastal Georgia and majored in nursing. After finishing my first semester of the nursing program and seeing what a RN does on a day to day bases, I had a change in heart. I wanted a job in the healthcare industry that gives me all major holidays off and no overnight shifts. I also wanted a more stable work schedule. I started researching different areas in healthcare and found Medical Assistant. Medical Assisting helps give a more stable work schedule were I can have all major holidays off and no nightshifts. The occupational outlook growth for medical assistant is 23% for 2014 to 2024. The expected salary for a medical assistant hourly is $14.Hr and $31,040 annually. Medical Assistants can work in many different healthcare setting. Most medical assistants work in a physicians’ office. While, other medical assistants work in urgent care facilities and hospitals.
