Seventy four percent of sixteen year old drivers have been in a accident while driving. Many states are starting to increase the age limit due to this. The mayor in Virginia Beach would like to change the age of which a teenager can drive. Parents are very worried about the situation of which teenagers can drive.

Due to safety concerns state legislature would like to increase the driving age. Due to when teenagers are older they are more likely to have insurance. Due to more teenagers having insurance they will be more likely to be more careful. Lastly, when you are younger you will have more distractions.

However, sixteen year olds to have places to go. Also, this can increase their responsibility. It can offer more assistance with their family. Learning to drive earlier would make more people comfortable when they get to this age.

In conclusion, the minimum driving age should be raised from sixteen to eighteen. Eighteen year olds are more financially stable and able to afford the required car insurance.
