Every individual who participates in society has a role to fulfill. Whatever role they may have is important to improve society and make it efficient for everyone. Patrick Henry in colonial times was an orator and politician and in his Speech to the Virginia Convention, Henry’s role in society is to motivate and persuade the colonists to fight against Great Britain and earn their freedom. At the time of the speech, the colonies have been suffering under Britain’s cruel tyranny and mistreatment. Realizing that there are no more options to settle the conflict peacefully, Henry urges the colonists to prepare a militia and go to war with Britain and be liberated from their supression. Using literary devices such as allusion, parallelism and antithesis,
