Personal Narrative: My Changes In High School

Since I have started high school, many things have changed, but many stay maintainable. I have changed physically, I have furthered in maturity, and I have both struggled and strived to academic work. Everyone who has gone through high school would agree with these changes, but everyone experiences and endures their own battles. Exactly how have these changes I’ve gone through in high school affected me? As a child, I was always thin regardless of all the unhealthy things I ate. My mother use to call me a vacuum because whenever food was placed in front of me, I would eat it. Along with three main courses a day, I would eat at least two snacks and drink maybe one or two sugary sodas a day. None of the food affected my weight or my health, I never had to exercise because there was no need to; my metabolism took care of all the food I consumed. This all began to catch up with me during the summer going into my sophomore year. All of the snacks I ate and the sugary sodas I drank began to show. The classroom environment at St. Clement was very open, hands on, and challenging. Outside of the classroom, though, homework was rare.
Transitioning to a classroom size of eight individuals I grew up with to classroom sizes of twenty to thirty complete strangers was a challenge that caused stress and anxiety. My freshman and sophomore years of high school proved to be a challenge environmentally; I struggled with familiarizing myself with the block scheduling and making friends. I strived academically, due to the fact that most of the work I accomplished in these two years was predominantly busy work and review.
