“Should our School be Year-Round, or Should Students Have the Summer Off?”

Year-Round schooling versus the traditional school calendars are a very wide and discussed matter in today’s society. There are many positives and negatives to this subject, although it appears there are far more pros to year-round schooling. Some of the discussed topics of year-round schooling are the concerns of it, the advantages and disadvantages, and how it is effective. The concern on year-round schooling versus the traditional school calendars is what many people talk about today. Students are proven to be more interested in in school when it is year round, they also aren't as stressed. The children state that they have better things to look forward to, and there is less academic loss. There are also fewer discipline problems, for example, less vandalism. It is also easier for teachers to plan curriculum for shorter amounts of time. ( Pederson, James). The families are usually on different schedules, too. American teenagers claim to be more stressed than most adults because of year round schooling. Vacations at any time of the year are proven to relieve stress and help children reconnect with themselves. Summer vacations interrupt academic learning because teachers and administrators feel rushed with an all-in-one calendar (Naylor, Charlie). Most students that don't have year-round calendars usually spend their summers by traveling, doing outdoor sports, and doing summer jobs. Year-round schools do usually spend more money because there are more sports and more heating and cooling.
