My commitment to becoming a pharmacist became a source of inspiration throughout my undergraduate experience. As I navigated prioritizing my education and handling personal situations, I would remember that I was a future pharmacist and could remain optimistic through whatever challenges I encountered. This is especially true of the six month period where I was helping my mother overcome personal misfortune. During my sophomore year as an undergrad, my mother was in a terrible accident. As she was unable to walk, drive or maintain a seated position, I became her primary caregiver. Balancing the responsibility of caring for my mother and my education was a challenge at first.
Admittedly when I began my collegiate experience I was not as
