Planned Parenthood Federation of America, an organization founded by Margaret Sanger in 1916 for providing inexpensive health care to young adults. Annually, planned parenthood is funded $500 million in federal funding every year. Moreover, it gives the public access to a controlled fertility, sex educational programs and many more. Although the idea of having planned parenthood sounds promising to a substantial of people, they do not realize the negativity it can bring into society. In some past events, the idea of defunding planned parenthood has been pushed multiple times before. This allowed a majority of the public who have low income to afford this. In addition to that, it is an independently wealthy business that mainly focuses on abortions, which is where they make millions of money. Abortion is an act of termination of a human pregnancy. Generally people come up to this solution as an escape hatch to avoid future responsibilities. In some cases, when an abortion takes place, the organization may sell the body parts to demanding customers. Studies show that about 6 million or more abortions were performed by planned parenthood. Since many people have access to this, planned parenthood would only get more funds by selling the body parts and getting funds annually by the Federation of America. In the article, “Planned Parenthood Doesn’t Need Our Taxes,” author Ian Tuttle specifically talks about why we should defund the organization. Tuttle accurately says, “In reality, the amendment simply provides a $500-million cushion atop which Planned Parenthood can conduct its slaughterous business — and the technical separation of funds depends entirely on Planned Parenthood being scrupulous in its accounting, which it isn’t, to put it mildly” (Tuttle 1). Meaning that as if planned parenthood keeps getting funded by the federation, they will make more of their revenue by simply practicing their inhumane actions, which is abortions. There is an infographic showing how much planned parenthood is being funded by the federation. It shows that its fund went from $202 million to $363 million by 2009. With their profit skyrocketing, they use TV commercials and radio ads in order to protect its funding. Therefore, funding is not necessary to help planned parenthood due to the fact they can make millions alone with their practices of
