Macbeth The act opens up with all of the thunder and lightning and the three weird sisters set up the theme of the whole play. The war is currently taking place against Scotland. The Thane of Cawdor is captured. King Duncan wanted to reward Macbeth with his title. The background starts to shift when the weird sisters confront him and Banquo saying that he will become the new Thane of Cawdor. Macbeth soon realizes the new title and starts fulfilling the requests and send the word to his wife. King Duncan stays at Macbeth’s home for the night. Lady Macbeth hears the news and starts to plot the kings death, so Macbeth would immediately become king. She manipulates Macbeth into following her ways and kill the king. In Act II Macbeth starts having visions and talks to himself into still following through with the original plan. He ends up freaking out so Lady Macbeth finishes what he started and wipes the blood off her hands onto the drunk guards. The following morning Macduff and Lennox come over and discover the dead body. Everyone was in shock, but the guards immediately pointed fingers at Macbeth. Malcolm and Donalbain (the kings sons) run away because they are afraid they will be accused of the murder. When Act III begins Banquo starts to blame Macbeth for the murder and in return Macbeth is scared that he will reveal that it was him. So Banquos lips are sealed Macbeth has random bad guys kill him. Banquo’s son escaped before they went to get him. When Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Lennox, and Ross attended the banquet, Banquos ghost starts to haunt Macbeth. He begins to get upset and made the whole table uncomfortable. You start to see that Macduff did not attend because he was in England.
