In America, two million children under the age of sixteen years work eleven hours on average in industries. Children from six to sixteen years old are suffering under the conditions of the companies that run these textile mills. Florence Kelley understands that it is not fair and is morally wrong to put young children into labor for nine to eleven hours, and since women were not able to vote at the time, they do not have enough power to stop such madness.
