In the translation of Homer’s The Odyssey, the role of weapons is important in the Trojan War, and throughout the book of Odysseus’s journey. Many different weapons aid in Odysseus’s survival on his journey back to Ithaca. The most important weapon throughout the book, was Odysseus’s bow back home at the palace. It served as a symbol of his cunning and strength, and helped him defeat the suitors and reclaim Ithaca. The bow was far superior to all the weapons used by the suitors; the swords and spears.
