This picture of the Segregated Water Fountains was photographed by Elliot Erwin in the early 1950’s. The photograph is in black and white and it is fairly easy to tell that this is an older photo because of the blurriness. The picture is black and white, but it also shows that the White drinking fountain is distracting this man from taking a drink out of his own not so clean water fountain.
The photograph is in black and white, therefore it was obviously taken with an older and less advanced camera. The first thing that is noticed upon looking at the photograph is how the man’s face is blurred. When looked at the color of his face it is easy to tell that his skin color is black. Also the Colored sign in the background of this photograph appears to be harder to read than the White sign. Another thing that sticks out is how the White drinking fountain is white and black, while the Colored fountain is just plain white.

The black man in this picture is disgusted because he soon will have to drink the unclean water from the pipes of the White fountain. On the left side of the Colored fountain it appears to be dirty as the white fountain looks very clean and sanitary. Therefore, the White drinking fountain is much more sanitary then the Colored drinking
