After reading the articles Shitty First Drafts and Rethinking the Shitty First Draft I found that these articles have some similarities, but they also have major differences. In both articles Anne Lamott and George Dila speak about methods they use when it comes to writing. Some of the similarities between the articles are that they both utilize the same methods when it comes to writing, and the tips they give you on how to start writing a paper. On the contrary, some differences between these articles is that one talks about how much it will help you to write shitty drafts, while the other does not believe in writing shitty first drafts. In the next paragraphs I will be explaining more in detail the differences and similarities that these articles have. In the article “Shitty First Drafts” Anne Lamott truly believed in writing shitty first drafts, justifying that it helps her to write an excellent article. She tells the reader that when it comes to writing and you do not know where to start, a shitty first draft would help you to begin to formulate ideas. He said it clearly on his article that he doesn’t like writing shitty first drafts. For him it doesn’t make sense what the author of the other article says about writing a shitty first drafts and then correcting it. What works for him, is revising as he progresses through his writing. As opposed to Anne Lamott, George Dila believes when he starts writing the first sentence should be perfect not all shitty. I disagree with George Dila, due to the fact that I do not like the progressively revising method he implements.
