In today’s world there are numerous controversial topics – abortion, firearms, border control, and countless others. People are repeatedly going at each other arguing back and forth in favor of their side. There is one controversial topic, more than the others, which have been on the radar in the past years – sexual orientation. Not only has sexual orientation been a common discussion in general but also a discussion as to if there is a line to be drawn with sexual orientation in society. If there is a line, where should it be drawn? Should officials have to enforce sexual orientation regulations? Should officials be aware of one’s sexual orientation in organizations? Recently, the Boy Scouts of America have decided to allow homosexuals to participate in the program as a leader or member. Many people were estatic about the decisions that was made. There were others, however, that were extremely unhappy about the verdict. Some stated about the traditional values that can be found in the Boy Scouts of America program and how they need to be upheld by not allowing homosexuals to be participants. Others were concerned about having their sons being under a homosexual leader. But rest assured these parents don’t have to worry One advocated for the conclusion, stated, “A gay man who interacted with children sexually would be a pedophile, and that is something a heterosexual man can do as well.” With this statement in mind, it easy to say that sexual orientation should not be relevant with accepting membership in an organization because heterosexual participants doesn’t mean anything as well as homosexual participants as long as they don’t participate in their sexual
