Skeletal Muscles are connected to the bones of the skeleton to provide the force that moves the bones. At the end of each skeletal muscle there is a tendon which is a strong connective tissue that links muscle to bone. It cells are long and have stripes that are referred to as striations.
The muscle use sliding filament mechanism for contraction which occurs whenever nerve signal goes from the motor neurone into the muscle fibre. It goes into the sarcoplasm of the muscle fibre via the T-tubules, triggering the discharge of calcium ions into the sarcoplasmic reticulum.
