Student Suspension The article talks about a video made by a high schooler, Emily Gipson, who made an anti-bullying video that has reached near 600,000 views. The creator of the article received two day in-school suspension, because school administrators say she was, “trying to incite violence.” The video started controversy and got teachers and the principal involved.
I have never witnessed or experienced bullying in elementary school, middle school, or high school.. The suspension of high school student Emily Gipson for trying to incite violence was fair. Emily Gipson is a student who made a viral video about bullying, which was made into a controversial subject. The video made by Emily Gipson was about a classmate’s suicide in October. She insults school administrators and other student.

She could have just gone to the principal to talk about the situation/problem, and if that does not work she could have talked to Tennessee’s board of education to address what is going on in her school. Because Emily made a public video about disrespectful students and school administrators, any retaliation the school makes will be criticized by the six-hundred thousand people who watched the video. On the other hand, Emily’s video did give awareness to schools who do not punish kids who make insults at others. This point in her video was needed, but the other points are just points to start drama. In her video she criticizes teachers reaction to the Stop It app that the Wilson County school had made for the October suicide, which was a great point. Emily’s punishment was fair, since the insults made to the school administrators and students makes her as terrible as them. Not only that, but she did violate the policies of that school by recording without permission on school grounds.
