The Articles of Confederation, 8 years old, died March 4th, 1789, at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. The Articles of Confederation was first adopted on November 15th, 1777. It was finally ratified on March 1st, 1781. The document was the first constitution of the United States, and during its short lifetime it accomplished several impressive feats. The document successfully fought for independence from Great Britain, and it established Departments of Foreign Affairs, War, Marine, and Treasury.
