“The advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation.” -James Madison. That quote is from the mouth of our founding father James Madison. This Amendment has been here for over 100 years and now it’s suddenly trying to be ripped away from us. The Second Amendment protected our rights to bare arms, to have a firearm, and protect ourselves. Taking away an amendment is not right. It is unacceptable. This should not be allowed. This should not even be considered. This is a part of our constitution. We have lived like this for so long. There is no reason to change now.

For starters, our Constitution says that we have the right to bare arms. You wouldn’t take away the First Amendment would you? Take away someone’s freedom of speech, assembly, religion? Absolutely not. The fact that militia and police officers are allowed to have firearms and citizens aren’t isn’t very fair. Of course officers and militia should have the right to bare arms but us citizens need it too. “The collective right interpretation says that Americans are not entitled to gun ownership merely for the purpose of defending their homes: they must be members of an organized militia in order to be guaranteed that right.” ( The Second Amendment:Does the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantee an individual right to bear arms?) Citizens need protection too. We are in dangerous situations everyday just like our fellow officers. We have the right to bare arms and that should not be taken from
