The Salvation Army Have you ever seen those people standing outside grocery stores, and other places ringing a bell holding a red bucket? Well those people work or volunteer for the Salvation Army which was started in England in 1852 by William Booth. Booth wanted to feed hungry families around Christmas time. Today the Salvation Army does more than feed families during Christmas. They provide shelter to the homeless, they even do disaster relief and much more.

“The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. The message is based on the Bible. Our ministry is motivated by the love of God. We work to understand the obstacles, hardships, and challenges native to the area's particular population.” This shows that the SA isn't just throwing things around, they actually access the community's needs. The Salvation Army is a large organization started in 1852 by William Booth. He helped this organization cover the cost of a community Christmas dinner. Today the Salvation Army does much more than Christmas dinner. They provide food, shelter, and much more. “We serve in 134 countries around the globe.” We have over 1.8 million members consisting of officers, soldiers, and adherents.
