The Salvation Army Have you ever seen those people standing outside grocery stores, and other places ringing a bell holding a red bucket? Well those people work or volunteer for the Salvation Army which was started in England in 1852 by William Booth. Booth wanted to feed hungry families around Christmas time. Today the Salvation Army does more than feed families during Christmas. They provide shelter to the homeless, they even do disaster relief and much more.

The Salvation Army is a large organization started in 1852 by William Booth. He helped this organization cover the cost of a community Christmas dinner.
