“Child sexual abuse is a form of child abuse that includes sexual activity with a minor” (Child Sexual Abuse). A child in no state of mind can consent to any type of sexual activity. Any adult who engages is this type of activity is committing a serious crime and can face jail time. When people hear of a child being sexually abused many think that a child was sexually touched by another person but that is not always the case. There are many different forms of sexual abuse which include phone calls, exposing oneself, and pornography. Being sexually abused can affect you physically, emotionally, mentally and can affect you for a short period of time or longer.

When using this counseling technique the child and parents learn new skills to help process thoughts and feelings related to traumatic life events; manage and resolve distressing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors related traumatic life events.
