In Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury criticizes the totalitarian government through the misuse of science and technology in society. By demonstrating the mistreatment of science and technology through TV parlors, mechanical hounds and seashells, Bradbury conveys the idea that without the full awareness and social comprehension of the people, technology will dominate and sequentially overturn the society. Ultimately, if change does not occur in society, then it is inevitable that it will fail. First of all, Bradbury criticizes the misuse of science and technology through the TV parlors. Following the burning of books, technology became a necessity to not only the government, but also the people. The government controls what the people think and watch, so slowly, the protagonist, Montag begins to comprehend how bewildered the society really is. Citizens begin to confide on technology since there is no other source of entertainment, due to the banning of books. Nevertheless, as technology continues to exceed to become more advanced, TV parlors were invented, where consecutive amounts of brainwashing, propagandized, government controlled shows were provided.
