The relationship in the case U.S. v. Nixon is that the Supreme Court knew that Nixon did not want to submit secret tapes that recorded conversations had in the oval office because they would prove that Nixon was involved in the Watergate Scandal. The President was very determined to maintain his occupation and he would do anything to ensure that would be true. He destroyed portions of the tapes and refused to hand them over to the Supreme Court. The Court decided to argue against Nixon, stating that if executive privilege were to be allowed it would "prevail over the fundamental demands of due process of law in the fair administration of criminal justice,” (CBS News).
