October 16, 1856 John Brown was leading a small army of eighteen men into the little city of Harper's Ferry, Virginia. His plan was to cause a major slave rebellion within the South. He would seize the arms and ammunition, and he would arm slaves in the area and move south along the Appalachians, He also caused slaves to come join him in his cause. He had no rations. However he had no escape route. His plan was not a good one from the very beginning. But it did dived the north and the south.
