Since Africans were taken hostage,they had a hard life.Here a couple of reasons why, Slaves had to leave behind their home in Africa to be sold by the white people. They didn’t have any freedom, they also barely got paid.Also slaves had a way to escape but it was very risky and hard. Around 450,000 slaves made it to America from Africa. That’s just a small percentage compared to other countries. Africans were put on crammed ships, even sometimes the captains didn’t want to spend money on food,so they usually just starved the slaves. When slaves made it to America they mostly used them for farming mostly cotton and tobacco. Slaves also barely got paid, if they worked for someone else they most likely got paid. Slaves didn’t have any freedom. Thomas Jefferson had once said “All men are created equal,” which wasn't the case. Slaves couldn’t make their own decision it was their owner who did. Slaves didn’t get an education, the only person who would teach them were their parents, if they were alive. When slaves had kids most of them didn’t live one year.
