Why I Want To Go To College

As a community-college student, I have worked hard to earn the grades necessary to transfer to a quality four-year institution. For me, USD is this institution since it combines everything that I want in a university: a strong academic program, the chance to become involved in the vibrant campus life that is offered, and the opportunity to learn from some of best minds in their respective fields. I also want to just have fun and, in ten, fifteen years, when I am looking back on my college experience, I want to say that, “yes, I worked hard; and, yes, studied more than I ever thought I would, but I also met great people and had unforgettable experiences!” I know that USD is the university that will bring these words from my mouth, and this, maybe more than any other factor, is what motivates me to transfer. …show more content…
While the changes that the world will undergo in the next decade or so are hard to predict, I believe that there will be some constants. For example, I am sure that employers will still want employees who are well-educated and well-rounded, and that they will also want employees who possess perseverance, drive, and a sharp curiosity. A great deal of what attracts me to USD are the traditions that are imbued in this institution, ones that, even as a follower of Islam, I share. For instance, I believe in equality, integrity, and character, and subscribe to the notion that all men and women should strive to improve themselves. Attending a school that shares these beliefs will allow me to strengthen my own even as I am surrounded by students who, based on their unique backgrounds, customs, traditions, and viewpoints, will challenge me and force me to reflect on why I believe as I do. The thought of testing of my ideas in the intellectual market excites me, and I know of no place better to do this than
