Health care law has a wide variety of topics to help people learn the best ways to run, promote ethics, and ensure safe health care organizations. It’s evident that many law topics have stringent guidelines to protect people’s rights. Fraud and abuse enforcement is a health law topic of interest which it seeks to prevent fraud and improper payments. The most fraud and abuse occur with Medicaid, Medicare and Children Health Insurance Program. Budget plans and proposals have been enforced to tackle waste, fraud, and cut spending. Fraud and abuse enforcement is a major issue and current health law topic that will be critiqued in further detail.
Fraud and abuse enforcement is has been driver for the Affordable Care Act, Medicare, Medicaid, and Children’s Health Insurance Program to fight fraud, cut cost, and reduces waste. For instance, the Affordable Care Act has taken strong steps to reduce health care fraud and waste. Those steps include, tougher sentences for criminals, and enhanced screenings for …show more content…
For instance, the government should confine, structure, and check its discretion in applying the False Claims Act, (Rudman, Eberhardt, Pierce, & Hart-Hester, 2009). The ability to decrease fraud by using legislation to spend millions of dollars to cease waste and fraud has helped to recover losses annually. From my perspective, the government has taken the necessary steps to curb the waste, fraud and abuse to have health care organizations and suppliers in financial stability. Abuse has a different effect than fraud because abuse is the unintended practice that directly or indirectly results in an overpayment to the healthcare provider, (Rudman, Eberhardt, Pierce, & Hart-Hester, 2009). When it comes to fraud or abuse, it’s a priority to reduce both effectively from physicians and consumers to curb liability in healthcare
