It is very important that all people are properly vaccinated. It important to prevent disease, prevent side effects from the disease if contracted, and save your life from diseases that can kill. Not getting a vaccine just because there have been a few cases of having a reaction is not good enough because it allows diseases that can be prevented to run rampant.

First it is very important to be vaccinated to treat disease. Diseases such as mumps, whooping cough, and measles are making a comeback because people are not getting vaccinated. Travelers can bring these diseases back with them and if we are not vaccinated then the disease spreads here at home.

Second, contracting these diseases can cause other side effects that would not be present if the person had been vaccinated in the first place. One example of a side of a disease that can cause side effects is mumps. A woman can actually become infertile because she has had the mumps. What woman wants to find out that she can’t have children because her parents or doctor didn’t make sure she got vaccinated when she was young? Another one is chickenpox. Having chickenpox as a child is less difficult than as a teen or adult so if one is vaccinated against this disease then that difficult illness never happens.

One disease, called Hepatitis B, affects the liver and will eventually take the life of the sufferer. There are so many health risks already out there that can cause death, why should we allow another by not vaccinating?

In conclusion, please consider vaccinating your children seriously. There are so many more risks to not being vaccinated than there are to being vaccinated. The risks are so much smaller from the injection and it stops the spread of these diseases before they can become a problem.
