There is a time in life when everyone will hit their breaking point. When most people do hit their braking point some turn alcohol or drug. “Drugs and alcohol can be so destructive.” (Kyan Douglas) When a person is using Drugs and alcohol they become addicted to it and they would not realize they have a problem until it too late. That is what happen to the character Gwen in the film 28th days. In the movie 28th days Gwen Cummings is a writer who has an addiction. Gwen is an alcoholic, but she feels that she does not have a problem. All she loves was party and get drunk with her boyfriend. In the beginning of the movie it shows that she did not care about anyone but herself. Gwen addiction affect her any many ways. In one way it affects her relationship with her sister because she always push her sister away. She also ruins her sister wedding by showing up late and drunk and running into her cake. Another way her addition affect her was she causes an accident. She causes the accident by borrowing her sister’s wedding limo while drunk and ran into a house. Lucky Gwen or no one else was killed, but because of her behavior she was court- order 28th day in rehab. The first couple of days in rehab Gwen did not believe she had a problem or an addiction. For people that are alcoholic there are other treatment too. Like, AA meeting, alcohol rehab or therapies. Honestly rehab works for all types of addictions but what I’ve learned over the years and by watching 28th days is to get help you have to want help. That is the only way you can overcome your addiction. Overcoming an addiction is not something that can happen overnight because it take time and patience to beat an addiction. Rather you addicted to drugs, alcohol, tobacco or anything, it all take time to overcome. Addiction: “I can choose to let it Define me, Confine me, Refine me, Outshine me, or I can choose to move on and leave it behind.”
