The nursing world is continuously growing and expanding all around the world in different categories. Being the youngest among six siblings, Clara started off as a clerk and bookkeeper for her older brother, taught for a few years when she was 16yrs old, and opened a public school in New Jerseys. As time went by, till early 1861, when the Civil War broke out and she became the first volunteer at Washington Infirmary to care for wounded soldiers. She filled up three army wagons with medical supplies and assisted surgeons to make bandages out of cornhusks. She organized a team of men who helped her carry water, assisted in performing first aid care, and prepared food for the soldiers who were wounded. Throughout the Civil War her supply wagon traveled everywhere to help give aid. A woman with great care, regardless of who was injured, Barton, was there to help any soldiers any way she could. As a self-made nurse, the contributions she provided shaped her to be known as “Angel of the Battlefield.” One trait she has is compassion. The compassion she carries within her is very relevant to professional nursing, because the nursing field is one of the most highly trusted professions. Compassion drives a nurse to care about their patient and without motives, you won’t succeed as a nurse. She took the time to write down words from dying soldiers that wanted to pass it on to their families, and this is why she became known as “The Angel of the Battlefield.” It is that extra mile of care Clara did for those who were dying that is needed today in the nursing profession. She set a great example of what nurses do to help comfort a patients needs. Everything Clara did in the field was highly important to nursing practice at that time, because they couldn’t make a 911 phone call and minutes later, paramedics show up in an ambulance. Back in the centuries, it was common for men to go to war and woman to stay home, provide care at home with the kids and wait patiently in hopes for their husband to return. She went beyond extent when the war was coming to an end and organized an office of records to help locate and identify lost soldiers, prisoners and the dead in unmarked graves for four years. President Abraham Lincoln appointed her General Correspondent for the Friends of Paroled Prisoners in January 1865.Her bravery on the battlefield is a heroic move and had her medical team following the men into
