The classroom should reflect each child’s individual interests. By doing this, it invites the children to be more engaged as well as promoting them with a sense of belonging. A play learning environment should be set up where it allows children the option of playing with others or playing by themselves. Oftentimes, a play learning environment consist of different play centers. These play learning centers are set up so that the classroom itself does not have to be rearranged and that the materials within these centers can stay out each day (Walker, 2011, p. 46). The learning materials within a play learning environment are also important. These materials need to be able to provide the students with open-ended creativity. Not only is it important to provide a variety of different materials, but it is also imperative where they are located in the classroom. This center helps develop one’s creative thinking. It also helps develop a child’s initiative and resilience (Walker, 2011, p. 48). The materials will include a wide variety of “odds and ends”. These materials will consist of different colored construction paper, tissue paper, glue, stamps, ink pads, scissors, string, glitter, crayons, markers, paint, ribbon, twine, and magazines. By providing a wide-range of materials, it will allow students to use their imaginations to create anything that they want. The materials will be stored in their own clear containers and labeled accordingly. During this play center, the students will use their learning tables. There will also be a writing center. A writing center helps build a child’s oral language and social skills (Walker, 2011, p. 48). The writing center will be located next to the word wall so that the students will be able to see how to spell high frequency words. I will provided different sized writing paper, construction paper, different sized envelops, a dictionary, pencils, pens, and markers. This will allow students the opportunity to write high frequency words, create books, and write letters. All of this will be stored in a five bin storage tower with the front clearly
