Before I had the privilege of becoming a Drill Instructor for the Explorers Police Academy, I was a sheltered, spoiled brat. I never had to pay bills, worry about getting to work, or worry about what I had to make for dinner. When I became a Drill Instructor, I had to teach forty to fifty recruits, all from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and of different gender. The only way I could earn their respect and instill discipline was through a first impression that was one hour long, which consisted of me yelling at them to get on their faces and conduct some squats and push-ups.
