In the story Anthem they were not allowed to think of only of themselves but their brothers. Nothing they did was for them but for their brothers. There was no I there was and only could be we. If you thought of yourself then you were sinning against your brothers. When they say “we” they are putting themselves into a group along with their brothers.
Equality 7-2521 Knew there was something wrong with this notion of “we.” He knows he is different than his brothers. For equality 7-2521 is taller than his brothers, and because of this he is sinning.
