As you read this essay you will see much more things than you have while reading Anthem. The book Anthem has many different characters but, would let’s focus on one, Equality-72521. Equality has changed throughout the story numerous times and some you didn't even notice. Today we'll be sharing some of them throughout the essay. Some ways he has changed is, He started living his own life rather than the way his town makes you, he found new interest from the start to finish(Science), and he starts to break rules instead of obeying them like the old him.

As you already know Equality is not your average teenager. He is very intelligent and always wants to know more, but in the beginning that was not the case. A quote from the beginning of the text where Equality does not want to know more and follows what he hears is, “ We think that there are mysteries in the sky and under the water and in the plants which grow, But the Council of Scholars has said that there are no mysteries and the Council knows everything.” This is a quote said by Equality early in the book, it is showing how he believes there is no mysteries within the world. Until… Equality finds the underground tunnel where he finds the box with wires. He is a very curious kid and when he found is he knew it was something secret and important. A quote showing how he went from following the council's word to creating light is, “ When we put the wires to this box, when we closed the current- the wire glowed, it came to life and turned red.” This was the part of the story when he wanted to know more, and he did what he wanted.
