Discrimination or Not? "He is gay", the lady whispered to her friends when she saw a man walked into the coffee shop. All eyes started at him- a handsome guy with a nice body and friendly smile. Everyone started to whisper to each other while their eyes still looked at him. Sometime, I could see an ironic smile appear on their faces. At that time, the other guys that were on another table tried to make fun of him. The man who was called gay quickly ordered his drink and walked out the shop without looking up. People continued to talk about him even after he walked out the door. The story happened years ago, but it is still held in my mind up till today. So many times I wondered that why gay people cannot be treated like other people while they are also human. By the time, society has changed. Today, gay people are being treated equal like straight people. However, in some case, they do not have the same rights like other people such as getting married. So that, we should make same-sex marriage become legal. Even though they are less or gay parents, people still should not oppose their marriages because same-sex marriage is beneficial to our society; they are good parents and create special environment for children to grow; and they should have the right to get married. First of all, although they are gay or less, they are still human beings, so that they should have equal rights like other people. " I am beautiful in my way because God makes no mistakes. I am on the right track, and I was born this way"(Lady GaGa). That is the lyric of a famous song " Born This Way" which was received a lot of supports from people around the world. The lyric is true. Nobody can choose their parents, their family, or their gender so that it is not their fault for being gay or less." The freedom to marry has long been recognized as one of the vital personal rights essential to the orderly pursuit of happiness by free men"( Knowland). It is ridiculous that people always talk about animals right when they are denying the right of homosexual people. America is known for its freedom and equal opportunity rights; that is why people come to live and start a new life here. In America, everyone is equal. It seems like there is no discrimination in here; and people are punished if they do that. For example, if you have a racial behavior with other people, you can be prosecuted for that. Now, several countries are trying to decrease discrimination and increase equality, but some people still look at same-sex marriage with a look like the one white people used to give to black many years ago." Thirty-five years ago, who could have imagined that we'd have an African-American President of the United States?" (Dodd). However, now we already have one. Now in today's society, no matter what race you are, black, white, or Asian, you are equal to other people. In addition, women have fight for their rights to be equal to men for centuries; and they made it. So, why should gay people not have their rights and be equal to other people? "The ruling in Lawrence emphasized that laws against homosexuality interfered with the most private aspects of consensual adult relations. The right to privacy is an expression of the more general democratic and legal proposition that the state does not have a right to impose a moral standard on individuals, except to prevent actions that harm others, e.g., criminal actions such as theft, homicide, fraud and the like" (Knowland). Furthermore, same-sex marriage is helpful for our society. First, because they are same-sex parents, they cannot have a baby naturally. Therefore, they will be the one who tend to adopt children more than straight parents. "According to a 2007 report by the Williams Institute and the Urban Institute, 65,000 kids were living with adoptive gay parents between 2000 and 2002, with another 14,000 in foster homes headed by gays and lesbians" (Pappas). Also, the special thing is " More than half of the kids
estimated 500,000 kids without parents and permanent homes nationally according to Acluutah.org. Orphanages cannot care for this vast amount of children in, fact last year the sate desperately needed 100,000 kids adopted but only 20,000 were granted families stated on Acluutah.org. It is baffling that with so many kids in need of homes why are we preventing them from being adopted by perfectly capable adults due to the adult’s sexuality.
Some people say that gay parents couldn’t provide a healthy…
The conception that lesbians and gay men may be parents is frequently perceived in today's society as impossible or immoral. Gay men and lesbians are often viewed as excluded from having children because sexual reproduction is related to men and women only. My approach to this uniquely controversial topic of gay parenting will be that of attempting to analyze the Pro side first. Gays and lesbians are human too and who is to say that they don't deserve equal rights in society. Society has to realize…
Many people are against same sex marriage because they think it will change the world and views on traditional marriage. What people fail to realize is that gay marriage is not at all harmful. Gay marriage should be legalized and accepted because there are no negative effects on children and society, it was historically accepted in the past and gays and lesbians deserve to be treated equally like everyone else…
Many states have laws against gay couples adopting children. Here in Ohio, the rule is kind of weird. According to the gay life page on www.about.com, current Ohio laws do allow single GLBT people to adopt, but not a gay couple. So one person from the couple can legally become the parent to an adopted child, but not both parents.
The fight over whether GLBT couples should be allowed to adopt is heated and has been going on for quite awhile. Arguments against gay couples adopting range from concerns…
1. Should children be raised by gay couples?
2. Should the US send military to other countries?
3. Is it a smart decision to prevent war?
4. Should the US have a draft?
5. Should gay marriage be legal?
Yes: democracy and fairness not to penalize people’s life choices/ sexuality and parenting are two separate issues/ how would this be enforced?
Sexuality and parenting have absolutely no relationship. Sexuality is based on hopefully mutual consent between two adults…

adopt. However there are gay couples, who want to help reduce that shortage, but face many red flags. Most conservatives believe that gay couples should not be giving the rights to adopt. Some states even have laws that prevent them from adopting. Same sex- couples are just like regular couples; yet it is not easy as regular couples to adopt. Many gay couples still endure criticism, spoken and unspoken, from those who are uncomfortable with the fact of gays being parents. Gay couples should be able…
Gay marriage is a touchy subject for most people. I personally think that it should be
legal. Some of the reasons that I think that it should be legal because of several reasons. One I
know people who are in a gay relationship and they are some of the happiest people I know. Also
there are a lot of TV shows that depict gay relationships and having it portrayed in the media as
ok made me more on the side that it should be legal. i also am kind of a rebel and my parents
Teachers Get Good Results. That reading includes the effects of strict parents on children so the choice was made to research the effects of gay parents on children. Children are born and raised in the United States every day. Many of the people that have these children are legally married and would be considered to be just another average American family, on the other hand there are also many other couples and single parents in the United States today that have a more unique type of parenting relationship…
and a man, or a woman and a woman, demand they get the same rights. This belief is further complicated when the gay and lesbian couple decides they want to start a family. People on both sides of this debate feel very strongly about their beliefs.
Over time, more and more people are accepting the decision of gay and lesbian marriage and their right to a child. As the essay "A Right For Gay Couples To Adopt” states, “Yet, despite the changing perception of partnership, the issue of same-sex adoption…
