Health learning theories attempt to explain health behavior and utilize such knowledge for teaching purposes. Theories can be arranged into several categories. Humanistic theory emphasizes personal development and individual oriented; cognitive theory focused on mental and psychological abilities of the mind, and not behavioral aspects; social learning theory based on learning of new behaviors from observation of others (Taylor & Hamdy, 2013).
