Two important causes that resulted in the industrial revolution were the cotton gin and the invention of the steamboat.
The first event was the invention of the cotton gin made by Eli Whitney in 1793 that took the freshly picked cotton and separated the seed from the cotton five times faster than when done by hand. This allowed mass amounts of cotton to be produced sparking trade and helped America's economy boom.Thus, the cotton gin negatively affected the society because the more valuable the cotton the got the more they needed slaves to pick more cotton.
