Thomas Jefferson and the Writing of The Declaration of Independence The writing of the Declaration of Independence told King George III and the world, the principles. The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson. He wasn't actually the only one, he was apart of a committee. The other men were Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman, and Robert Livingston. They were all apart of the Declaration of independence, but they all contributed in different ways.

Thomas Jefferson was from Virginia and was only 33 when he was drafting the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson actually had 12 grandchildren, and he was very kind to everyone. He taught them how to play chess and new games. He was very interested in archeology when he was younger. Thomas Jefferson loved writing letters all throughout his life, so writing the Declaration of Independence was no problem. He was the youngest delegate out of the five men committee. He was born on April 13, 1743, and died on July 6, 1826. Thomas Jefferson was a founding father and was the third president of the United States. He drafted the Declaration of Independence with the help of other men.

There is 3 different parts to this document, the first section is the preamble, the second section lists the sins of the king of Great Britain, and finally the last section is what declares independence. The preamble talks about our rights and that all men were created equal. The second part means that any man or woman has natural or unalienable rights, these rights cannot be taken away from anyone.
