Priests, Brothers, and Sisters are necessary in carrying out the mission of the Catholic Church, which is to spread the gospel of Jesus, administrating the sacraments, and exercising charity. They help organize and run the Church, and encourage us to participate in the sacraments. When we go to Mass, the Priest reads the Gospel. He then explains what the Readings and Gospel mean, to help us understand how to carry out the mission of Christ. In the Eucharist, he blesses the bread and wine and turns it into the body and blood of Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. The mission of a Sister or Nun is either “contemplative or active”. Nuns with contemplative orders spend most of their time in prayer and study, while Nuns with active orders spend most of their time teaching in schools, helping in the Parish, or raising money for charities. A Brother or Monk is like a contemplative Nun; they devote their whole life to worshipping God and praying for peace and justice throughout the world. The majority of Monks live under the same roof, with one single leader. Brothers and Monks are praying for us constantly, even though we don’t always know it. The Priests teach me about my Catholic religion. They baptize many people, they offer the sacrament of Reconciliation, and the sacrament of the Eucharist every Mass. They have prayed for a family member of mine when in need. My aunt is a Nun and she celebrated her 50th Jubilee a few years ago. This
