By comparing the founding governance of these colonies, one could establish that Ireland was an important stepping stone to developing English colonies such as Jamestown, Virginia. The kings enacted measures of loyally to prevent a rebellion from the undertakers. The King had the undertakers swear an oath of loyalty and to have them of same the religion as his own. The Jamestown had the reverse by making codes of conduct for the lower levels to control religion and authority. James town put individual codes and laws in place for different ranks. The commoners were prevented from doing a lot of things. The commoners were prevented from being negative in a slanderous manner towards almost any part of the colony.
