The Enlightenment Philosophers main idea was for all people to be equally the same. The Enlightenment thinkers were: John Locke , Voltaire , Adam Smith , and Mary Wollstonecraft.The period of time when thinkers were coming together to change the way people think about: Government , Religion , Society , and the way people think about equality between genders. Therefore , the philosophers main idea was for everyone to have their own equal rights and to be equal. John Locke’s main idea was was to have a good government to have equality between men and women. In John Locke’s document on “Of the State of Nature” it says, “There is nothing more evident , than that creatures of the same species and rank … should also be equal one amongst another without subordination or subjection.”. In Voltaire’s document on Letters Concerning the English Nation it says , “If one religion only were allowed in England , the government would very possibly become arbitrary [unrestrained];if there were but two , the people would cut one another’s throats; but ssd there are such a multitude , they all live happy and in peace.” This evidence means that if only one religion was in England than there would be arbitrary [unrestrained] , but if there were two there would be a war and a multitude of religion everyone can believe in what they want and the people would be happy and live in
