Moving Into My Knee

It feels like a hammer smashing into my knee! That’s all I could think about when she landed back on to it. It was the worst pain I had ever felt in my life. I didn’t know what was wrong, I just knew I couldn’t move.
It all started at a Bethel basketball camp. We were all playing in a fun game, until the other team got the ball and went running down the court. As I was running down, a girl from the other team was running beside me. She crossed her leg in front of mine and tripped me, making me fall onto the hard court and to make matters worse, she stepped back on me knee. I remember the girl glancing down at me, rolling her eyes and looking back up. I sat there in excruciating pain; when people realized I wasn’t going to get back up, they rushed over to help me. I sat through the rest of the day, wanting to go home, but knowing I couldn’t due to the fact that I was getting a ride home from a friend. Once I got back to my house later that day, I sat on the couch, elevated my knee, and continued to ice it. The next day, we went to the orthopedic to get it looked at. I remember it smelt vividly like Clorox wipes and cleanliness. There, they put pressure on my knee which hurt a lot, took x-rays and came up with a diagnoses. They said that I fractured my patella, otherwise known as the kneecap. I got a brace and crutches which I used for four weeks. During the recovery period, I had to continue to ice it and raise it, but they added physical therapy into my routine. I had to do a few simple stretches four times daily. The
